Therapeutic supports for children

At Sree’s Rehabilitation Center, we focus on holistic development of the child by a multidisciplinary approach, which we achieve by providing services for various disorders and difficulties. These include Occupational therapy, Sensory integration, Speech and language therapy, Augmentative and Alternate communication, Special education, and Facilitation of social skill and play.

Occupational therapy (OT) is a treatment given by an occupational therapist which focuses on sensory integration, balance, coordination of movement, fine motor skills such as pre – writing, facilitates learning by improving attention concentration and also self – help skills such as eating, drinking, dressing, brushing, toileting etc.

Sensory integration

S.I is a therapy designed for children/individuals with sensory integration deficits; focus on improving an individual’s ability to use incoming sensory information (auditory, tactile, smell, vision, taste) appropriately and encourage tolerance of a variety of sensory inputs.

Speech/language therapy (SLT) is provided by a speech therapist or speech and language pathologist with the goal of improving an individual’s ability to communicate. This includes verbal and non-verbal communication. The treatment is specific to the individual’s need.

Augmentative and Alternate communication

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes all forms of communications such as pictures, line drawings, sign language, computer assisted communication, writing etc: that are used to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas.

Special education

S.Ed. is the education of students with special needs in a way that addresses the students’ individual differences and needs. Ideally, this process involves individually planned and systematically monitored teaching procedures, adapted equipment and materials, accessible settings, and other interventions designed to help learners with special needs. This is to enable them to achieve a higher level of personal self-sufficiency and success in school and community than what is available for the student if he/ she have given access to a typical classroom education only.

At Sree’s Learning Center, we provide special education for children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders, and slow learners, using tailored teaching approaches that cater to their specific needs.

Facilitating social skill and play

A social skill is any skill facilitating interaction and communication with others. Social rules and relations are created, communicated, and changed in verbal and non-verbal ways. The process of learning such skills is called socialization.

At Sree’s Rehabilitation Center, we also focus on improving play skills which facilitates better cognitive development when combined with other therapies. We facilitate use of play materials, equipment, taking turns; also how to communicate their needs and wants.
